Description

Double Exposure is a great sample of Alaskan adventure. Not quite as challenging as our Extreme Week trips but sure to be fun and exciting. Includes the comforts of Alpenglow Luxury Camping.

Challenge Level: 3; Day hiking and scrambling. Trekking and climbing on glacier ice. Some primitive camping while sea kayaking. Read more about Challenge Levels.

No experience required but you must be over 18, in good physical condition and prepared for the challenges of the Alaska backcountry.

Itinerary

Whittier Water Taxi

Leaving Blackstone Bay by water taxi for return in Whittier

Day 1: Meet in Anchorage, enjoy a spectacular drive and start sea kayaking from Whittier. Remote Camping.

Day 2: A full day sea kayaking in Prince William Sound. Remote Camping.

Day 3: A short paddle to our pick up point then a water taxi ride back to Whittier.  Drive north to our Base Camp overlooking the Matanuska Glacier.  Overnight at Alpenglow Luxury Camping.

Day 4: It’s time to get out and hike, exploring the wilderness and traveling light we can go far and hopefully get some great views.  Overnight at Alpenglow with a great meal and soak in the hot tub.

Day 5:  Lots of adrenaline today as you experience whitewater rafting, exploring the backcountry on an ATV tour and a ride on the fastest zipline in Alaska.  Relax at Alpenglow for the night.

Take one of the fastest ziplines over epic views of the Mat-Su Valley

Day 6: Explore the Matanuska Glacier! You’ll use crampons and ice axes to trek and learn to climb vertical walls of ice.  You’ll be tired and feel on top of the world after this exciting day.  It’s often a quiet van ride back to Anchorage to end your Alaska adventure.
